Red Engine jeans – the why and what behind the denim label
For those of you who have experienced the new Red Engine jeans from Los Angeles, we have been stocking this season, this will come as no surprise.
Their Fit is fabulous, they do not gap at the waist, we have had several customers love them so much they have already come back for a second pair. We have had customers who never wear jeans as they can never find ones to fit… then start wearing these jeans..
Here is what the Red Engine designers say is their point of difference.
Red Engine is similar in approach to Seven for all Mankind – both lines use the highest quality denims and manufacture in Los Angeles. The difference is that Seven has morphed into a lifestyle brand that can be found in every department store in the US. True Religion also manufacture in LA, they are more a “fashion” jean that relies on details (trims, oversized pockets, hardware etc) over fit. True religion is more about “image” and less about fit
Red Engine however is by intention and by design a more basic jean that provides a tight and sexy, totally flattering fit that is totally comfortable at the same time. The beautiful, high quality Italian stretch denims used hold a girl in where she needs a little holding, creating a flattering silhouette at the hip, thigh and backside. There is a bottom lifting effect, and pocket size and placement are set to flatter curves and even create them when you need them. Red Engine use a special ( secret) waistband construction so that gapping will almost never happen. All of these features mean that there is a Red Engine fit that will work perfectly for almost all body types.
The bottom line is Red Engine, Seven and True Religion are all sold side by side in hundreds of stores and what the stores say is:
Women come in asking for True Religion or Seven because they advertise and are better known, but almost everytime the customer will come out of the changeroom and buy the Red Engine jeans. Then they will come back asking for another colour or wash as they haven’t stopped wearing the Red Engine’s they bought last time.
Come in and try a pair… every one needs a great jean in their wardrobe and finding a good one is the biggest challenge.

This is so clever -Blown fabric
There are just some amazingly clever people in the world…..
Blown Fabric” is collection of lamps designed by Nendo. They used the material Smash, a long-fibre non-woven polyester, which you can shape in almost any form when heated. The production technique is very similar to blown glass. That’s why they’ve used LED bulbs to make sure that the lampshades don’t collapse.
This will be on display during the Milan furniture fair at the Tokyo Fiber ‘09 Senseware exhibition.

The story of the Ventian Cowl
Well we have finally had our fabulously essential Venetian Cowl come back instock after a sellout a few weeks ago.
With the arrival of this new stock , we have also had the requests from Her Business magazine who want to feature our Venetian Cowl and our Linear Pants in their new editorial for the perfect pair in their upcoming July Issue. -what a compliment!
I have taken to wearing this piece so much the last few weeks, as it looks so good over my skinny Red Engine Cayman jeans – with either my conform boots when I am running around to a friends place or on the soccer sideline with my Gumboots! I know I am warm and snuggly, and all the pieces of my figure I do not want to show are covered! I can team my Venetian Cowl with my Linear pants for work, and wear it as a shrug over my merino Echelon dress – you can see the photo of all the ways to wear this if you scroll further down.
So do not miss out on these last ones… they are one size, they come in Mossy grey green colourway or Black and as you know New Zealand merino lasts forever.
Your wardrobe will thank you for many years to come….
Phone our boutiques and the girls will be able to send one out to you…Ponsonby ph: 09 3766544 or Newmarket ph: 09 524 3662

Shona’s favourite pieces from the winter season
This week I have asked Shona – our Retail manager and styling genius in our Newmarket store for her favourite pieces from this season…
She didn’t hesitate to say “My favourite piece is the Pleated Centrale dress“ …. (shown in grey stripe here but Shona has the black one) This is a long Black pleated tube dress, in an amazing Italian pleated fabric has subtle circles pleated into the fabric. She loves this piece for “its versatility.” The dress can easily transform a pair of pants from day to night and “when turned upside down the dress becomes a top” with a fabulous pleated neckline and looks great worn with her New Peg Pants and an O Belt. “I love the way the belt gives me a line that keeps the proportions of the outfit correct.”
Shona is loving her New Peg Pants… the shape allows them to fit like a man style trouser through the waist and thigh area but then taper in at the bottom to give you a fabulous long leg look. We have carefully positioned the pleats on these trousers so they flatter you without adding bulk and extra fabric. She says “they are extremely comfortable and stylish and I just wear, wear and wear them. They fit beautifully and the lightweight Italian wool keeps them warm and I can tuck the skinny part into my boots or wear them with a flat shoe. I can see they will last a really long time.”
The Crusade jacket has topped off Shona’s winter wardrobe as she says she “loves the cropt jacket look” It can transform and suit so many figure shapes and she loves it with “longer layers extending out from underneath the jacket as this adds extra texture or colour to her outfits.”
So now when you see Shona popping out in Newmarket for a coffee, you will know she will probably have one or all of these pieces on.

The Return of the Interval top
After selling out in days , we have made the last of our charcoal merino wool into the final 6 of our
Merino Interval tops….
These were so popular as they had the Merino Relaxed Shirt ontop and the soft Italian cotton layer underneath against your skin. This enables you look like you are layering yet have the ease of just putting on one garment. Put on with jeans or your favourite pair of pants for a comfortable yet stylish look.
Don’t miss out this time…..Ponsonby – ph 376 6544 or Newmarket – ph 524 3662
