Taylor’s Inspirational Table!! Sculptor and Artist Isamu Noguchi

At one of the many taylor boutique photo shoots we were distracted and blown away by the most intelligent interesting shaped tables known to mankind!

I was so taken aback, I decided to make it my mission to learn more about this talented man and his table…….now that I have pieced together my puzzle I thought I would share.
- Isamu Noguchi was born in US, brought up in Japan and moved back to America as an adolescent.

- One of the very reasons his work deals with tension between Eastern and Western cultures, synthesizing them in his organic abstract way.
The glass top table itself was designed in 1939 with a rose wood base and in aesthetic is like so many of his other works- a sophisticated mix of nostalgia and modern.
Here are a few more pics to appreciate and marvel over…
Paris Abstraction, c.1928, black gouche on newsprint.

Look at some of our amazing window displays and the outfits we have created this summer …. we hope this inspires you to have fun with your clothes….
Which taylor pieces do you need in your beach and travel bag this summer break??
So it’s the summer holidays: catching up with good friends and family, lazy beach days and those wonderful long summer evenings…
With those holiday plans in mind, we asked a few of our Taylor girls what would be in their travel bags.
Shona, our Newmarket Manager, is off to Melbourne.
- My Sym top in 100% cotton as this makes it cool and breathable which is perfect for that Melbourne climate. I am teaming this with My red Engine Skinny Cropt jeans and my Brazilian Gladiator sandals for strolling around the shops.
- My Capilli Singlet in Black is the perfect travelling piece due to its versatility. I wear it as a singlet during the day and then backwards for the evening, which gives it an amazing ribbon detailing on the neckline that adds something a bit more glamorous.
- An Ostrich Tunic in White as I love wearing white in summer: it’s such a crisp look. The 3/4 sleeves will carry it through to evening and I feel so very elegant in it!
Vicki, our Designer, is off to Waiheke island with all her family…
It is hard to believe but I am going casual this season!
- Grey and White skinny nelson tailed tanks worn together over Red Engine Lotus cropt Jeans.
- A White Rhombus top and grey leggings. This piece is great as it is long enough to be a dress or tunic and can be thrown on over my swimsuit or teamed with leggings for an evening BBQ with friends. Of course, Haviana jandals will be the main footwear required on the island!
- My Capsule Tunic as I love this piece. It looks layered but is just one piece to put on, it doesn’t cling anywhere, and has that easy relaxed cotton look which is perfect for beach holidays. I will wear this with my grey leggings again.
Emilie, our Workroom Assistant, is going home to Christchurch to be with family…
- My electric blue Capilli singlet which I will be wearing on Christmas day
- My waterfall shirt dress for a dinner at “Strawberry fare” on new Years Eve
- I never go home without my Venetian Wrap from our last winter collection as it is just the best piece and I always feel great in it, and Christchurch can still get quite cold…
Kourbela has a design trick or two up her sleeves
We are very excited to introduce our fabulous new Kourbela cleverly knitted cotton sleeves cardigan in summer shades that will make BBQ’s and X-mas gatherings easy and stylish to attend.
Great teamed with jeans and those light summery dresses and sandals, adding a touch of easy glamour to any outfit.

Ioanna Kourbela is an Athens born knitwear designer, born into a handmade knitwear company she has been producing her own fashion line since 2002.
Her work is primarily influenced by the natural flow of elements in nature such as wind and water. Movement and drape are prevelant within her collections as well as ornate textures and using raw materials.

If you think this photograph is something special then just you wait until you see how it elegantly floats and cacoons against the body….
They are in stores as we speak..maybe not for long!
These are definitely worth a peek.
And P.S. Have you seen the new issue of Pilot magazine? It’s a visual must have!!

Essential and fabulous Christmas gifts
All I want for Christmas…..
It is the time of year that we are all looking and wondering what do we want for Christmas, what do our friends want?? What can we get our good friends…. I hope they buy me something I can use…. here are a few taylor tips on how others are planning for this Christmas giving season.
A few clever customers have come in and set up a layby for their ideal outfit or the beautiful gala bags… then they have asked their friends and family to help pay off the layby with amounts they feel comfortable with… so after Christmas they get a gorgeous surprise as their outfit will only cost them a hundred dollars. They never know how much or little their friends spent.. all they know is they all helped get them something they really wanted.
Here are a few other easy taylor ideas for your Christmas Lists….
- Great Jewellery from Julie Eynon like the target ring $155 or the triple stack ring $145 or those hammered hoop earrings $80
- An arithmetic wallet $110 – as seen in the latest Fashion Quarterly- from New Nelson based designer Gala – where the designer hand makes her own designs… no not a factory but she makes them herself. Such true artistry.
- A taylor belt – $115- $150 full 100% made in New Zealand

- A metalicus top $160
- A great Standard Issue chunky knitted vest… these look great over a teeshirt with jeans or dressed up over a soft summer dress.

- Taylor fabric beads $80

- A fabulous taylor Gift voucher at your set value to put toward something your friends have been wanting but felt it was a luxury this season that they didn’t need.

We can make this Christmas purchasing so easy… that once you decide what you want… you do not even need to come into the store. A phone call, some gift wrapping and we have your gift delivered where ever you need.
It is time to enjoy the giving, but make sure you are giving something really desired this Christmas.
