The best thing about winter - is Winter dressing. You can cosy up in soft layers and look great as well as braving yourself for the elements.

A fibre that makes winter dressing easy for all is of course our beloved New Zealand Merino Wool. Certainly not limited to just thermals and sportswear, at taylor we can do much more than that and we celebrate it every winter with Merino Week.

Here are some of the limited pieces you must check out…

Rotate Sweater

Available in a dark Graphite Grey and the soft Vapour Grey Marle, or stand out in a beautiful Mineral Blue or Ablaze Red. This Cardi will be a piece that you will be able to wear everyday. The Capture Dress

Our Capture Dress is the perfect compromise between the ease of a knit dress and the elegance of a woven dress. Two Toned Classify Dress

You would have seen this one for the first time for Merino Week last year. It is always a special little dress that we only do a very small run of so be sure not to miss out. A fine cream and Charcoal stripe merino is the upper bodice, contrasting with a dark charcoal merino body. For those which are loyal followers of taylor, you will already know that we do great pants. What is so important when finding the perfect pair of pants is not only the way in which they are tailored to fit and flatter the body, but the fabric is so important too. The wool suiting we use are often sourced from the top mills in Italy, quality and finish which is a head above the rest…Here are 3 of our favourite pants styles we are loving this season and why…

1. Graduate Pants

What an impact these made for a pop of colour in the summer silk. This season we have cut this beautiful and edgy style in a timeless woollen check. The soft gathers make this style flattering and easy to wear with tops tucked in. The cut of the leg tapers in at the ankle so you will be able to tuck into your high cut winter boots-perfect to wear dressed up or down.

2. Fluide Pants

A new pant shape we have designed this season and we love them because they are just so chic. For those that love a wide leg, these are wide (and then some!) Beautiful and Elegant – Creature Top

We have patiently awaited for one of this season’s most beautiful pieces… the merino and silk satin Creature top.

At taylor, we love using New Zealand Merino wool for our beautiful clothes. It is soft, hard wearing, and best of all we have been lucky enough to be working with a local mill to help us produce a cloth which is unique and special.
This is the Merino we have used on our Creature Top, and paired with a lustrous and light weight silk satin.

You may have seen it on the runway and now available in-store. We have this in the Porcelain colour-way and also Black, this is a top with that definite wow-factor and visual drama…and of course, elegance.

Wear with a long column-like maxi skirt such as our Merino Summary Skirt, or Furry Insulate Skirt. To finish this look, punctuate your waist and contrast the fluidity with a belt such as our O-Belt or textured Graduate Belt.

Wrap up and add a bit of luxe to winter dressing with lots and lots of Texture.

Combine different textures this season, something hairy with something smooth, something shiny with something matt. A faux fur or hairy textured piece will add another dimension to your outfit and no doubt give your look that x-factor. Here are some pieces you should try at taylor…

1. Why not try that in a fur…?

Our Insulate Skirt is a long maxi skirt in a soft furry texture which will be a must for winter. A longer line is always lengthening to the form making it a flattering pick. Wear with chunky boots or wedge booties alike.

The Margin Sweater is an interesting autumn layer to wear over crisp white shirts and under winter coats and . Its a clean t-shirt like cut making it perfect if you are not wanting to wear too much bulk.

2. A Vest might be best….

Often you will need that extra something to perfect your special outfit, whether it be for a black tie event or winter wedding…Our Furry Insulate Vest might just be that. A modern alternative to a fur stole or fur jacket, you will feel and look amazing in this piece. Due to popular demand we have already re-cut these in Black and Porcelain (pictured above) so make sure you do not miss out…

3. Reboot for winter…

Stylishly Protected – Essential New Coat Shapes

The exciting thing about fashion is it is always changing, always offering something new. With this change comes a proportional change, a length that looked right a couple seasons ago now feels old, The new season silhouette may seem scary at first, but after playing with the new cuts and the new shapes, they grow on you… and soon you find yourself wearing them, and wanting more of them.
At taylor, we love to embrace this change – do things a little bit differently-whether it be a classic with a twist, or perhaps an interesting detail ensuring you get a double-take. This change is refreshingly good for you in more ways than just your external appearance, it enables you to take a new perspective and move forward.

Validate Reversible Coat

This season as dress and skirt lengths grown longer, you do not want to be adding a 3/4 length coat… it will make your silhouette all too boxy. You need a shorter coat. Something fun and yet practical.

Our Validate Coat has a sharp, stylish asymmetrical cut and it is also fully reversible! Wear one way and you will have a gorgeous cape like jacket in an Italian Wool/Mohair Hairy texture (Black), or Wool/Cashmere (Mineral Blue), elegant enough to wear out to the opera or add fun to your skinny pants and jeans and flowing silks …. and in reverse, it will become a wonderful and practical raincoat in a shower proof memory polyester. The memory polyester adds a fabulous smooth contrast to the hairy wool and holds the shape of the coat, giving it an exaggerated silhouette against those contrasting long skirts or soft silks and skinny pants you will be wearing underneath.

Pod Raincoat

Wow! The Pod Raincoat is stunning.

Keep the elements at bay this season – This coat will cover your long skirts or full length pants ensuring they stay as dry as your hands with the clever way the sleeves are cut. This Coat is stunning enough to take you to any formal event as your winter coat, yet in a PU coated fabric with mesh contrasts and with clever like origami like shaping it will also keep you dry while on the sports sidelines.

What we also love is the versatility of it… you have options to conceal the hood by rolling up and sitting under the collar, The curved front opening makes walking easy even with the coat extending to your ankles and the best part it will roll into a small bundle and not crush so will pack easily.
