It has all come around too quickly, and I find I am near the end of a wonderful 2 years at Taylor Boutique in Wellington. This will be my last post on behalf of the Wellington team… but not to worry, the lovely Gabrielle will be keeping you up to date with all things new over the next few months.
So, what better to do for a final post than a little Top 10… favourite tips, outfits, current styles and snippets from my time here. A big thank you to all my colleagues and Vicki and Mark, for being such a fabulous bunch to work with… and to all my lovely customers, it has been a pleasure and keep up those gorgeous taylor wardrobes!

the classic taylor outfit
It is as easy as one, two, three… skinny pants, a long shirt or silk layer, and a blazer or soft jacket. It is layering at it’s most basic, and it looks fabulous on everyone. There are many variations in taylor pants, tops and jackets… the idea is to get the perfect combination for you. It may take a bit of trying on, but you will get a great go-to outfit for your troubles.

get it tailored to fit
Every single body shape is different, so you are super lucky if you get those black pants or jacket to fit you perfectly off the rack. Remember we can alter the bits that aren’t quite right to suit your shape. A little waist tuck on pants or nipping in the sides of a jacket can make all the difference, and is something our taylor girls are trained in.
the pod dress
This has been a favourite of mine for a long time, I think it shows off taylor’s style and uniqueness beautifully. It is a bit different, and something that if you haven’t tried… you need to. And Wellington ladies, I have just received the plain white in store, which is super easy for summer.

get both colours
Because those wardrobe favourites are sometimes hard to find. I wish I had doubles of some of my trusty taylor silk numbers from when I first started… I still wear them even with all the new product coming through. If you find something you love, why not get the black and the other colour… investment buying! And let’s face it, one pair of Integral Pants is not enough…
i wish i had
The Embrace Bangle and Obsidian Ring… they stare at me from the counter each day, and I would take them home, except I only ever received one of each, so want one of our lovely customers to have them. They are both gorgeous.

push your comfort zone
Sometimes we need a to push ourselves to try something we normally wouldn’t. It may not work… but you might just end up with something unexpected that looks fabulous on you. Take the Liberty Maxi Dress, below… many of our ladies have tried it on just for fun, and it has looked stunning on all different shapes and sizes. So, next time your in, try those pants you have been eyeing up but just aren’t sure of the shape, try the emerald green even though you have never worn it, try the dress even though it looks a little strange on the hanger… you never know until you try. Do not be afraid to stand out, or look a little different from everyone else, it can be a good thing.

black on black
It is a favourite combo at taylor, and for good reason as it works so well. Keep your black outfits interesting with lots of texture. Combine meshes and silks with wool suiting, and soft with structured… all black is not for everyone, but when done well it can look stunning.

well-cut pants
One of the things that taylor does best is pants. It has been nice to see everyone embrace the new, more relaxed pant shapes. At the moment my favourites are the Garner Pant and the Graduate Pant (sold Garner Pants in the middle of typing this). Both are slightly cropped styles for summer and can be worn with your flat brogues or a pair of great heels. Our red silk Graduate Pant has been a hot seller in Wellington, and has suited many different ages and sizes… honestly!

kohl & cochineal
We love our accessories label Kohl & Cochineal, designed and made straight out of Nelson using all New Zealand leather. Luxuriously soft, elegant and simple designs… I wish I had more… and Wellington, we have just received an Obsidian Bag, below, in store. Beautiful.

individuality
I like to wear all black, I feel comfortable and confident in it, I always wear a chunky ring on my right hand, I like to wear black pants and a white tee with heels on a night out, especially if everyone else is wearing a dress, and I like having short hair. Our designer Vicki is never without a taylor blazer, and likes to wear heels, always. One of our fabulous customers is known for her love of colour, and always likes to have a bit of brightness in her outfit, even in the sea of black that is winter. Taylor may provide the pieces you wear, but it is how you put it together that makes it uniquely you. All those little individual signatures and twists are what I love about fashion.
