You may have seen the beautifully plump and natural hand-knitted scarves our models were wearing during our Britomart Fashion Sessions runway show last week? Let us introduce you to the young designer and Massey Graduate, Abby Mattock, who hand-knitted (each one taking 8 hours!) these scarves.
Not only were we floored by the craftsmanship and warmth of these beautiful knit pieces, we also really loved Abby's concept behind creating them...
"In this project, I have aimed to identify the negative connotations of a withered body and find beauty in it after all. I have attempted to confront the stereotypes of aging through textiles, to show the decline in physical appearance and challenge what fashion perceives as being stripped of beauty."
With so many of you interested in Abby Mattock's knit pieces, we invite you to see more of her work here, and if you would like to order yourself a scarf, email Abby on firstname.lastname@example.org.
With it being the official start to autumn last weekend, we can already feel that crisp morning air! Although we are sad to say goodbye to what has been an amazing summer, we're now getting inspired by the idea of layering and getting cosy...
First on our list, a beautiful winter coat. The final layer, and some might say the most important! Let us introduce you to our Division Coat. A modern take on the long coat, we love it's lengthening lines and simple detailing - sure to be a favourite for seasons to come! Made from a luxurious wool and cashmere blend, the Division Coat is available in two colourways; black and black-tweed.
The Diner en Blanc is happening in Auckland on the 15th of March. Although we can’t help you discover the secret location, we can certainly make sure that you will look fabulous in white. This week we will give you some ideas of how to build an all white outfit.
Tip #1: make sure your white pieces are immaculately white. Dry clean to remove all stains.
Tip #2: mix different textures of white, keeping the same tone.
This Winter we present two new colours: Acai and Currant. These shades of purple are perfect choices for both day and night looks. They come in different fabrics and styles, giving you various layering options. We love to mix textures with matching coloured pieces like the Currant Incircle Cardi over the Currant Silk Mesh Camber or the Silk Mesh Pursue Tunic.
Have you ever had acai berry?
Acai is an Amazonian berry loaded in oxidants, also considered a “superfruit”. It promotes skin health, is a natural energy boost, has anti-aging affects and helps with weight loss. Acai Bowl is a really popular recipe in parts of the United States such as Hawaii and Los Angeles and, of course, in Brazil.
At Taylor, we are always searching for different and healthy food options and Acai bowl is great! It is not only a perfect breakfast, but also really nice after exercise. We hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do.
2 frozen bricks of acai puree (you can find at organic food stores, such as Wise Cicada)
Handful of frozen blackcurrants
Handful of frozen blueberries
1 tsp honey
A splash of apple juice or coconut water to blend
Blend all ingredients together until smooth. Spoon into a bowl and top with fresh fruit, granola and a drizzle of honey.
Today is a super busy day.. I am up very early, followed by a full day at work, and I am in and out of the office a lot too.
After work, I'm heading straight to the kid's after school sports games - here, they will not appreciate my platform heels! (After all, it is so embarrassing having a mum who is a fashion designer!) So, for the days that are as busy as today, I LOVE the Encounter Dress for it's ease. Lending itself to any occasion, and easily dressed up or down, the Encounter Dress looks just as good worn with jandals, flat ankle boots, or heels too if you wanted to go out later!
