FOLDING DIMENSIONS

taylor’s Spring Summer 2019/20 collection ‘Folding Dimensions’ experiments with the aesthetic created by folding and wrapping geometric shapes.

With inspiration taken from artists Jorge Oteiza and Ueli Gantner, the collection explores revealing form through folded, rotating and interlocking geometric shapes. Angular and straight lines are juxtaposed against each other while flowing silks are paired with luxurious linen blends to create intriguing yet wearable pieces. The geometric construction allows for garments to represent a variety of forms, ranging from subtle variations to what appears as a completely different piece. Flowing transparent pieces add to this element with the ability to be added and removed to transform garments.

Silk, Linen, Cotton and Virgin Wool fabrications predominantly feature throughout the range, with signature, coveted Italian prints sitting alongside unique hand-painted artwork designed in-house by Vicki Taylor. Beading makes an appearance again this season in structured geometric designs while strong colour blocks crafted in fluid Viscose create dissecting angles to flatter the figure.

Silhouettes are sculptural yet designed to allow space and form to flow freely while the asymmetrical alignment of fabrics adds an unexpected twist to otherwise classic garments. Folded and angular shapes are used to create sleeves, while panels create folded wraps that enclose and reveal the body form.

Moving away from the traditional taylor monochrome base of black and white, this season we bounce vibrant Aloe green and Quartz against soft Buff and Vapour grey colourways.
