WINTER PROOF YOUR CAPSULE WARDROBE
Posted:
With winter just around the corner, we are in desperate need of additional layers to help us stay warm. Here at taylor, we carry an extensive array of merino, long sleeve cambers and mesh pieces in many different fabrications. These styles are beautifully designed to act as a second skin, to keep you nice and cozy all winter long.
Along with building the right base, you also need to find the perfect mid and outer shell layers to lock in the heat and protect you from the harsh weather conditions that come with winter. Ultimately you need three layers, the first layer to keep you warm, the second for insulation and the third to lock in the heat and protect you in the cold.
The secret to staying warm all winter long is choosing pieces that are made with high-quality material that is guaranteed to keep you dry and cosy. At taylor, we design our pieces in winter-friendly fabrics such as cashmere, wool, merino and more.

SECOND SKIN
For your second skin (the base layer), opt for a form-fitting tunic or camber. We have a variety of different styles, fabrics and textures to choose from depending on what you're in the mood for. To start the outfit off, choose an edgy mesh, cashmere tunic or a merino camber with long sleeves and a high neck. Once you have chosen your top layer, it's time to start planning your pants. Fitted pants such as the 2-way stretch Integral Pant will help lock in the heat and are easy to layer under tunics, dresses, skirts and even wider leg pants if you want to be extra snug. - Shop base layers here.

THE MIDDLE LAYER
Now that we have our second skin, it's time to start thinking about our mid-layer. This is where the fun starts, opt for a cult favourite piece, almost anything you choose goes. To avoid feeling suffocated, choose a middle layering piece that is well insulated yet breathable. Although cotton doesn't make the best base layer due to its high water retention, it does make a great middle piece for its highly breathable properties. The Cropt Shard Shirt , Overture Shirt, Measure Top and the Undulate Top are all breathable, light fabrics that are perfect pieces to layer over your base. - Shop middle layers here.

OUTER SHELL
Having the right outer shell makes the world of a difference. Invest in quality coats that are suitable for all the weather conditions that come with winter. Ideally, you want something that you know that you'll love, a style that will make you feel good and go with almost any outfit. Seek high-quality materials so you know it won't rob you of heat, otherwise all that effort going into layering will be going to waste!
For the cold, windy, but clear days, opt for a high-quality sweater and a cosy coat to lock in the heat, something more relaxed in silhouette will keep you feeling comfortable and being able to move freely.
For the rainy or snowy days, opt for a long coat or jacket to keep you covered from shoulder to toe, and for extra warmth, layer a sweater with the Perceive Puffer.
